Some changes have been made site-wide as you can see here in the blog, so we would like to run down everything with you so you can know if anything else has changed with the site functions.

• http://www.uniformserver.com: The main site has been revamped and this time we made everything clean and easy to use. A section has been added that shows the latest two post from the blog and we are still working on some things on there also so you can expect some slight changes, but you might not even notice them if you don’t look hard,
• http://blog.uniformserver.com: Two new skins where added here and the one you probably see now is the one that was made the default. We are also using mod_rewrite for the links and if you would like to see the other new theme, you can use the theme selector at the end of the page to the right.
• http://forum.uniformserver.com: The default skin for the forum has been changed to a new skin that is more to fit in. Its a simple skin and not much was changed in this area. You can also use the old skin by using the skin selector at the end of the page.

To those who think we are bluffing, please believe that 3.4-Sluger will be released tomorrow! To others, watch out for it, get it, download it, and use it All the bugs and problems from previous versions has been entirely fixed in this version, and we have some new features and things with the server.

You can also catch some cool new features in the Admin Panel. Please also note that upon start, the server will only load http://localhost and not http://localhost/apanel, we did this for a reason. The way phpMyAdmin looks is not because of our doing… You have to ask the phpMyAdmin developers for that.

There is no set time before the release because we have to do one last sweep to make sure that we have all the latest software, just as PHP 5.2.3 was just released today. Catch us back here tomorrow for the release of Uniform Server 3.4-Sluger, its going to to be a BIG party, on our way to 4.0!

We are sorry we do not have a better system in place for this, but we are working on it. It will be included into the upcoming BetaCenter. Work on the BetaCenter will continue after the release of 3.4-Sluger and some plugins.

We all know that the Perl side of the Admin Panel comes with a little nice security feature, it checks to make sure that the pages are being requested from localhost or the ip 127.0.0.1, and after a while, i was working on a new project for the server (another surprise) and two seconds into working on that i decided to make one of those security feature for the PHP side of the Admin Panel. At first i wasn’t so sure if everything would work out, but upon my first try it was working perfect and with that i decided to add a little code snippet in the config.inc.php file to call it, so now, if $unisecure is set to 1, then the extra security feature will be added on top of every other security measure we already have in place, about 3 i think so far, but there is nothing called too much security as we know it!

Some other new features are also added to the Admin Panel to make life easier. Catch them when you get 3.4-Sluger.

After finishing my rounds today and adding some in-pack plugins to the server (shhhh), i noticed something else i already added and working that most people have problems installing. Now, i am not too sure yet if i want to add it as a in-pack plugin or a downloadable plugin, but AWStats 6.6 is up and running here. This will be discussed during the BetaChat LiveSession.

To talk about the upcoming LiveSession, the date set for it is Saturday May 26, 2007 1200 EST. It will be held in the IRC Channel as most of you already know. If you cannot make it, there will be logs saved in the Developer Forum, but please try your hardest to make it. 3.4-Sluger Beta will be released during the chat if all goes well. It will last for as long as it can, meaning not until the conversation ceases.
